I created The Creative Coding Club as part of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project in an effort to address youth technological literacy and persistent gender disparities in STEM fields -- issues I have personally experienced and find very important. 

Through this project, I have developed a free online curriculum of video lessons and educational resources that introduce young students to creative coding in an engaging, accessible way. Rather than focusing solely on technical programming concepts, I've tailored my curriculum to emphasize creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving to show students that coding can be used to endlessly create, from art to animations, or from video games to interactive experiences. 

As coding opportunities can often be inaccessible to younger students or may feel intimidating for beginners, I hope to help students build confidence and eventually see themselves as creators of technology, rather than just being consumers of it. 

Hi! My name is Allie.

I recently graduated high school, and I'm going to be majoring in Computer Science in college this fall! I’m deeply passionate about the intersection of programming, design, and art, especially in fields like computer graphics and UX/UI design. My experience includes a web design internship I did with Career Amplifier and college coursework in Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. 

This project has been shaped by my own journey into computer science. Like many other young girls, I had always seen programming as a highly technical, abstract activity, and I believed it was a monotonous and difficult but necessary skill. That was until another girl introduced me to the artistic possibilities of programming. I was able to see how I could use code as a medium for art, self-expression, design, and communication. Now, through this project, I hope to continue sharing this feeling and opportunity with more young students, especially girls.
